What a velvet bracelet & bangle box is — and what it has to do
A bracelet or bangle box holds a round piece in shape with a cushioned bar or ring, so a bangle does not flatten or a chain bracelet does not tangle. The insert is shaped to the diameter of the pieces you sell.
Velvet over a C-cushion needs a seam along the underside of the cushion; we place and press that seam so it is invisible from the front when the bangle is fitted.
How a velvet bracelet & bangle box is built inside
A bangle box is built around a C-shaped or cylindrical cushion: the bangle slides over the cushion and is held open in its true round. A chain bracelet uses a long box instead — a full-length pad with a central slot into which the bracelet is laid, or a removable cylindrical pillow it wraps around.
Fit. The cushion diameter is cut to the inside diameter of the bangle — usually 60–70 mm — so a rigid bangle sits snug without being stretched; for hinged bangles the cushion is slightly smaller so the hinge is not stressed when closed.
In velvet. Velvet adds pile height on every covered face, so a velvet insert is cut fractionally under size — about half a millimetre on each face — and the pile makes up the difference; a slot cut to the finished width would close too tight once covered. The pads are covered before they are fitted, and the nap is brushed the same way across both pads so the slot reads as one shadow line.

Why velvet for bracelet and bangle boxes
Velvet is the material jewellers reach for when a piece needs to feel precious. Its deep, soft pile catches the light and cushions the piece, and it is the finish most customers instinctively read as 'fine jewellery'.
Velvet has a nap — a direction to the pile — so we cut every panel with the nap running the same way; a lid and base cut against each other look like two different colours under shop lighting. Pile also crushes at sharp corners, which is why velvet is wrapped over a firm shell and the insert edges are rounded before covering.
Velvet shows colour more richly than any other lining, but the same dye reads darker in the pile than on a flat swatch — we approve colour on a made-up sample, never on a fabric card alone.
It suits proposal and bridal ranges, coloured gemstones, and any brand that sells on 'the moment the lid opens'.

Every box starts with the piece, and the piece decides the shell route:
- Ready tooling library. We hold a range of existing moulded shells in the common jewellery-box sizes. Where one of these fits your piece, there is no mould charge and the box is faster to produce — you choose the finish, lining and logo on a proven shell.
- Fully custom dimensions. Where no standard shell suits — an unusual bracelet, a signature proportion, a matching family of sizes — we build the box on a wooden shell cut to your dimensions and finished in lacquer or wrapped in your chosen material.

What we check on every velvet bracelet & bangle box
Before a sample is sent, and again on every bulk run, each velvet bracelet & bangle box is checked against the same points — the insert is velvet-covered pads, so the fit checks below are read against that construction:
- bangle sits round on the cushion, not flattened
- cushion clears the hinge on a hinged bangle
- chain bracelet lies flat in the slot with the clasp tucked
- cushion is firmly seated and does not rock in the cavity
- the nap runs the same direction across every panel
- lid and base outlines match exactly when closed — same footprint, same corner radius
- insert fills the cavity with no gap to the wall; walls are an even thickness
- velvet panels have continuous grain or nap with straight, even seams
The most common faults we see in bracelet and bangle boxes bought elsewhere are a cushion cut to the outside diameter (the bangle floats), a slot too shallow for a heavy link bracelet, and a lid that touches the top of the bangle. Each of those is a specification decision, and we make it with you before the sample.
Made to your brand
Your size, your lining, your colour, your logo. Velvet does not take a crisp hot-stamp the way PU does. For a logo on a velvet exterior we use a metal plate, a woven label or a printed lid card; on a velvet-lined interior the logo normally goes on the inside of the lid on a satin or PU panel. Velvet marks if handled roughly in transit, so bulk shipments are individually poly-bagged and packed lid-up.
You approve a physical sample before bulk, and the bulk order is held to the sample you approved — the same velvet, the same insert, the same logo position.
