Custom Microfibre Suede Jewellery Set Boxes

Chung Ngai makes custom microfibre suede jewellery set boxes to order for jewellers, designers and retailers — each one built around the matching set it will hold, finished in microfibre suede in the colour you choose, and marked with your logo. We are a manufacturer and supplier of jewellery and watch packaging, Hong Kong owned and managed since 1971. This guide covers how a microfibre suede jewellery set box is built, what to specify, and how to order one made to your brand.

What a microfibre suede jewellery set box is — and what it has to do

A set box presents a matching ring, necklace and earrings together in one opening, with a compartment shaped for each. It suits bridal, gifting and signature collections where the pieces are sold as one story.

A suede display board gives a bridal or statement set a matte, gallery-like background — nothing reflects, so gemstones and metal read at their true colour.

How a microfibre suede jewellery set box is built inside

The classic set box is a double-door format: two doors open left and right on side hinges, revealing a single vertical display board. The board is worked from the top down — a hook or clip for the necklace, pierced holes for the earrings in the middle, and a ring slot at the base — so the whole set reads as one composed picture. A simpler flat set box uses a base pad with a shaped compartment for each piece.

Fit. Each position uses the same rule as its single box — 2–4 mm ring slot, 0.8 mm pierced earring holes, a hook sized to the bail — set out on one board so the pieces do not overlap when the doors close.

In microfibre suede. Microfibre suede has a short nap and no stretch, so an insert covered in it is cut almost to the finished dimension — only a quarter millimetre is allowed per face — and curved forms such as pillows and C-cushions can be covered in one piece with the seam hidden underneath. The surface is brushed once after fitting to lift the nap.

Formats we make: double-door display board · flat compartment set box · bridal parure box · two-piece (pendant and earrings) set box.

Why microfibre suede for jewellery set boxes

Microfibre suede gives a warm, matte, tactile finish that photographs exceptionally well — a quiet-luxury look that reads beautifully on a product page. It is soft to the touch yet more colour-stable than natural suede.

Microfibre suede has a short, even nap and no stretch, so it wraps tight radii cleanly and shows no seams on curved inserts — which is why it is our default lining for pillows, C-shaped bangle cushions and ring rolls. It is non-reflective, so under studio lighting the piece, not the box, catches the light.

Suede colours are muted by nature — greys, taupes, sage, dusty blues and off-whites — and it holds colour well under shop lighting.

It suits e-commerce brands who shoot their own unboxing content, minimalist and contemporary jewellery labels.

Two ways to get the size you need

Every box starts with the piece, and the piece decides the shell route:

We will tell you which route fits your brief before quoting, so there are no surprises on tooling or timing.

What we check on every microfibre suede jewellery set box

Before a sample is sent, and again on every bulk run, each microfibre suede jewellery set box is checked against the same points — the insert is suede-covered pads with a hidden underside seam, so the fit checks below are read against that construction:

The most common faults we see in jewellery set boxes bought elsewhere are positions set too close so the chain lies over the earrings, doors that do not meet flush, and a board that leans when loaded. Each of those is a specification decision, and we make it with you before the sample.

Made to your brand

Your size, your lining, your colour, your logo. Suede takes a subtle debossed logo elegantly; foil is possible but reads softer than on PU, so most brands choose a blind deboss or a metal plate. Suede shows dust more than PU, so boxes are individually bagged for transit; it brushes clean in use.

You approve a physical sample before bulk, and the bulk order is held to the sample you approved — the same microfibre suede, the same insert, the same logo position.

How ordering works

Send us the matching set dimensions (or the piece itself), the quantity you have in mind, your logo artwork and any colour references. We confirm the shell route and the insert, quote one clear all-in price, and make a pre-production sample for you to approve. Production follows the approved sample. Quantities and lead times are agreed per project rather than fixed, because structure, materials and any tooling decide both.

Frequently asked questions

What size should a microfibre suede jewellery set box be?

It depends on the matching set. Double-door set boxes are typically 120–160 mm wide and 150–200 mm tall; flat set boxes run 160–220 mm by 120–160 mm. In microfibre suede the finished internal size also depends on the covering — microfibre suede has a short nap and no stretch, so an insert covered in it is cut almost to the finished dimension — only a quarter millimetre is allowed per face — and curved forms such as pillows and c-cushions can be covered in one piece with the seam hidden underneath. Send us the piece dimensions and we will recommend a size, or check a preferred external size against our ready tooling first.

How is the matching set held inside a microfibre suede jewellery set box?

With a single vertical display board (necklace hook, earring holes, ring slot) or a multi-compartment flat pad — in this finish, suede-covered pads with a hidden underside seam. Each position uses the same rule as its single box — 2–4 mm ring slot, 0.8 mm pierced earring holes, a hook sized to the bail — set out on one board so the pieces do not overlap when the doors close.

Can you make microfibre suede jewellery set boxes with our logo?

Suede takes a subtle debossed logo elegantly; foil is possible but reads softer than on PU, so most brands choose a blind deboss or a metal plate.

Is microfibre suede the right choice for jewellery set boxes?

Microfibre suede gives a warm, matte, tactile finish that photographs exceptionally well — a quiet-luxury look that reads beautifully on a product page. It is soft to the touch yet more colour-stable than natural suede. It suits e-commerce brands who shoot their own unboxing content, minimalist and contemporary jewellery labels. Suede shows dust more than PU, so boxes are individually bagged for transit; it brushes clean in use.

What is the minimum order for custom microfibre suede jewellery set boxes?

There is no blanket figure. Quantity is agreed per project, based on the structure, the microfibre suede and any tooling involved — tell us the quantity you have in mind and we will quote around it.

Do you make a sample microfibre suede jewellery set box first?

Yes. We make a physical pre-production sample to your specification, you approve it, and the bulk order is held to that sample. On the suede sample we check shade consistency across faces, the seam placement on curved inserts, and that the deboss reads cleanly without crushing the nap.

Can the same jewellery set box be made in other materials?

Yes — the same jewellery set box structure can be finished in velvet, leatherette (pu), lacquered wood, rigid board, so a retail range can share one insert and vary the exterior.
